'Soundless Wind Chime' at the BFI London LGFF
A Chinese and Swiss co-production, 'Soundless Wind Chime' has two screenings at the BFI's London Gay and Lesbian Film Festival at the National Film Theatre on the 30th and 31st of March.
Synopsis:
A stunningly beautiful film, Soundless Wind Chime is about trying to let go after the death of a loved one. While that journey is never straightforward, the actual story here is simple. Ricky, a timid lad from Beijing working as a delivery boy, falls in love with Swiss-born drifter, Pascal. When tragedy strikes, Ricky is more lonely than ever and goes off in search of a connection to his lover. The non-linear narrative takes us from Hong Kong to Switzerland to Beijing, never quite being sure if we are in the past or the present. These jumps in time and location could be confusing but, combined with unexpected musical interludes, mysterious coincidences and the overall beauty of the film, perfectly evoke the strangeness of grief.
