Fukushima Charity Event a sell-out success!

On March 11th, 2012, a year after the earthquake and tsunami that took so many lives and continues to disrupt many more, Third Window Films held a charity event to raise money and awareness for the people of Fukushima who suffered not just from the earthquake and tsunami, but also the eruption of the nuclear power plant which will continue to harm their lives for many years on.

At the ICA Cinema in London, we held a screening of the film 'Mitsuko Delivers' which we felt was perfect for the time as not only is the setting of some of the movie in Fukushima, but also the movie's message of helping others when times are tough fit exactly to the current situation.

We sold out all 187 seats, with many more who unfortunately couldn't make it in due to overwhelming demand, plus we donated a large selection of DVDs, all of which were sold on the night with 100% of their sales also going to charity.

To round it up, this week on our Facebook group (http://www.facebook.com/thirdwindowfilms), we are selling many limited edition posters and dvds, some of them signed by directors and actors, to raise more money for charity.

Once we have added all the money up we will announce next week how much we were able to raise for the people of Fukushima.

Thanks to all who have participated so far, and we hope that more of you will help and always remember what happened on March 11th, 2011.
