I'm lucky enough to live next to two "mini theaters" that actually play that kind of movies (but haven't been there in a while... sorry...) and there's a lot of exciting stuff. Mostly ignored outside Japan, but those discs are a great chance to get a glimpse.

A place where films made for barely nothing can get proper theatrical runs in cinemas, allowing for many young voices to get a footing in the industry.
