SUFFERING OF NINKO
Out July23!
Young monk Ninko leads an ascetic existence in the Enmeiji temple, but his dedication to a life of simplicity and sexual abstinence is made impossible by the curse that seems to afflict him: he is irresistible to every woman (and some of the men) he meets. Pursued by a posse of half-naked, crazed women and a mysterious, faceless nymph, he flees high into the mountains, where he can finally discover his true nature.
“The Suffering of Ninko is a wild, jaw-dropping fever dream of a film that must be seen to be believed.” Indiewire
“For lovers of the truly bizarre, this is a must-see.” Cinapse
“Suffering Of Ninko is a home run. A cult in the making” High on Films
“Undeniably outlandish. A bold and striking debut.” Eastern Kicks

ANIMERAMA: 1001 NIGHTS / CLEOPATRA
Limited Edition copies still available!
The WORLD’S FIRST BLURAY release of two rare animations from the “Godfather of Manga” TEZUKA OSAMU: 1001 NIGHTS & CLEOPATRA are NOW OUT as a double disc, limited edition set!
In the late 60s, Tezuka Osamu with his production company MUSHI PRO and director EIICHI YAMAMOTO (Belladonna of Sadness) started a very short run series of adult animations called ANIMERAMA. The series only really officially made these two films before Mushi Pro went bankrupt, but they have been totally forgotten in history and we are very happy to bring them out for the first time on bluray!
NEW & EXCLUSIVE extra features inc. an interview with director Eiichi Yamamoto, audio commentaries on both films by Helen Mccarthy, author of The Art of Osamu Tezuka: God of Manga, plus 4K scanned trailers, reversible sleeves and liner notes by film critic Simon Abrams.
*ALSO AVAILABLE ON DVD!
Limited to 2000 copies only on Bluray and 1000 on dvd

Korean Film Festival Teaser Screenings
Hong Sang-soo’s Claire’s Camera
Acclaimed director Hong Sangsoo returns with another humour-inflected, conversation-led drama, this time moving from the bars of Seoul to the backstreets and beaches of Cannes Film Festival.
Claire’s Camera sees The Handmaiden star Kim Min-hee take the role of a film-sales assistant abruptly dismissed from her job, right in the middle of the festival. Having been given only the vaguest reason for dismissal by her boss – a supposed lack of ‘honesty’ – the young woman is left to ruminate on her situation within the film-focused atmosphere of the French town. Enter noted actress Isabelle Huppert (Elle), a holidaying music teacher with a wandering eye and an instant camera that will come to connect the dots between the wronged assistant, her former boss, and the film director at the heart of the friction.

Arrow Films
Hong Sang-soo set out July 16!
This collection brings together Women is the Future of Man and Tale of Cinema, the fifth and sixth films by Hong Sangsoo, the masterful South Korean filmmaker who has been favourably compared to that great French observer of human foibles, Eric Rohmer.
With these critically-acclaimed films, presented here in High Definition for the first time with a wealth of extras, Hong Sangsoo employs his idiosyncratic, measured style to create two compelling and truthful tapestries of human emotion and behaviour.

Akio Jissoji’s BUDDHIST TRILOGY now out!
Akio Jissôji created a rich and diverse body of work during his five decades in Japan’s film and television industries. For some, he is best-known for his science-fiction: the 1960s TV series Ultraman and 1998’s box-office success Tokyo: The Last Megalopolis. For others, it is his 1990s adaptations of horror and mystery novelist Edogawa Rampo, such as Watcher in the Attic and Murder on D Street. And then there are his New Wave films for the Art Theatre Guild, three of which – This Transient Life, Mandara and Poem, forming The Buddhist Trilogy – are collected here.
